The Party Fit for a Sesquicentennial is Here! Cedar Point's 150th Anniversary Celebration Begins Saturday
SANDUSKY, Ohio (June 22, 2021) – The celebration of a lifetime is about to step off – Cedar Point’s postponed 150th anniversary officially begins this Saturday. The 51-day event is highlighted by the unprecedented Ticket of a Lifetime promotion, a spectacular nighttime parade and party, a new family river adventure ride, commemorative merchandise, new food offerings and so much more.
“It’s time. We’ve all waited more than a year to share this momentous occasion and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Carrie Boldman, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point. “From the Celebrate 150 Spectacular to the unbelievable Ticket of a Lifetime, we’re pulling out all the stops as we recognize and celebrate 150 years of Cedar Point – the quintessential American summertime tradition.”
Ticket of a Lifetime*
With several already awarded through online contests and the park’s Everyday Heroes series, park guests will have their final chances to win a Cedar Point Ticket of a Lifetime, an exclusive ticket that affords each winner (along with three guests) free admission to Cedar Point and Cedar Point Shores Waterpark for the rest of their lives.
Each day during the celebration, guests inside the park who register will have five chances to win by scanning their mobile device at each Courtesy Corps information kiosk. Winners will be randomly selected, then announced nightly just before the Celebrate 150 Spectacular parade through a limited-time CP150 app that allows guests to win prizes for playing park trivia and to be a part of the finale of the Celebrate 150 Spectacular show.
While entering the Ticket of a Lifetime sweepstakes, guests will also have the chance to be one of 150 winners to be instantly upgraded to a CP150 VIP Experience for the day. The winner, plus three friends, will receive one-time Fast Lane passes and access to three exclusive VIP lounges where they can relax in style, charge their phones, catch a game on giant TVs and enjoy complimentary water and snacks plus a private cash bar. VIP winners will also have access to the VIP Party Deck, presented by Platform Beer Co., offering great views of the nighttime parade.
Celebrate 150 Spectacular
The multi-sensory Celebrate 150 Spectacular begins with a dozen illuminating floats that pay tribute to the iconic turning points, innovations and memorable moments in Cedar Point’s history. Over 100 talented performers, ranging from acrobatic beach bathers to whimsical dancing hotel associates will interact with guests along the parade route, moving to an original score during this unforgettable experience.
The Celebrate 150 Spectacular parade culminates in an epic street party at the park’s Celebration Plaza near Iron Dragon, where dancing, pyrotechnics and music continue in the only way Cedar Point knows how to do it – BIG. The Celebrate 150 Spectacular steps off nightly through August 15.
Snake River Expedition
Parents, kids, grandparents and thrill-seekers alike can join the mission to smuggle valuable goods around Adventure Island on the Snake River Expedition river boat ride, now open. Riders are immersed in a journey that will have them assisting with secret tasks, encountering surprises along the way and avoiding “danger” around every bend. Tours on Snake River Expedition are led by a cast of live characters with animated scenes and special effects to enhance the experience. Guests will also see nods to Cedar Point’s past attractions like the Western Cruise and Paddlewheel Excursions boat rides.
The Taste of The Point
What better way to experience all the famous foods that the park is known for than with an outdoor tour to sample them all? Guests can purchase a Taste of The Point tasting card and indulge in some of the park’s most famous fare, including several that are sure to become new favorites. Famous fresh-cut fries become cilantro, lime and queso fresh-cut fries; hand-battered cheese on a stick becomes fried pepper jack cheese on a stick with raspberry jam; and funnel cakes transform into funnel cake hot chicken sandwiches. In total, 15 specialty food items are available on the tour. Guests can save on the Taste of The Point tour when they purchase tasting cards in advance online.
In addition to the Taste of The Point, the fruit-shaped drink vessels from the park’s past return at the new C.P. Juice Co., and vegan and vegetarian dishes make their debut at The Wild Turnip on the Frontier Trail. Delicious fried chicken and tots will be served at The Roost, and the new Custard Creamery will cool the palate with fresh custard and ice cream novelties.
Commemorative Collectibles
A trip to America’s Roller Coast® wouldn’t be complete without that special souvenir. At Celebration Central, located at Pagoda Gift Shop, guests can purchase anniversary logo merchandise, books, key chains and other collectibles to signify the big event. Just outside, complimentary buttons will be available for guests to proudly display the year they started their own tradition at Cedar Point.
Right next door at The Button Stop, guests can purchase buttons for themselves or to trade with other park fans. Designs feature logos of current and former attractions, famous park locations, nods to the park’s history and hotel properties like the classic beachfront Hotel Breakers.
Cedar Point Legacy Walk
The Legacy Walk, located in the center of the Main Midway, celebrates families, guests, fans and visitors with inscribed bricks. Whether a tribute to a family member, a celebration of an annual tradition or just for fun, the bricks of the Legacy Walk display custom text, such as names, hometowns and years visited.
This is the final call for guests to have their brick installed. Bricks must be purchased by Labor Day, Sept. 6, 2021 at cedarpoint.com/150.
