Raptor Crew Receives Special Recognition

We’re calling out another outstanding set of associates who make Cedar Point an amazing place to visit.

This time around, it’s our crew of the one-and-only, record-breaking, nothing-below-your-chair-but-air, “there goes the floor, you’re out the door” suspended looping steel coaster, Raptor.

As some of our park fans know, we, along with our other Cedar Fair parks (and many parks in our industry), partner with ride operations safety company IRT. More specifically, our ride operations team receives their training as part of the International Ride Operator Certification program, or "iROC."

What does this mean to you?

Because safety is our first priority for everyone at the park, iROC training ensures that our ride operators are following the necessary safety procedures at each attraction. The training is consistent, which means everyone follows the exact same guidelines during operation.

In addition to the annual training our operators receive, IRT performs “top secret” audits throughout the season, stopping by the park unannounced to observe and evaluate how the procedures and training are being executed.

Recently, one of these audits was completed at Raptor, and we’re pleased to share that the crew exceeded training expectations and received an “Outstanding Operators” classification, the highest category you can receive for this type of audit.

We are so very proud of them for this achievement, so congrats to the 2022 Raptor crew!

In addition, Cedar Point's overall operations received a High Pass, solidifying the consistency of our training and service.

As a side note, a similar certification program is in place for our lifeguards and waterpark operations to ensure they are following their specific safety training and guidelines. Like iROC, random audits are done at Cedar Point Shores Waterpark and Castaway Bay Indoor Waterpark, and our lifeguards consistently receive the “exceeds” classification, the highest category you can receive.

We’ll continue to celebrate these achievements throughout the year. Congrats to all!
