Exploring the Park

November 16, 2021

It’s our third week into the “winter” at Cedar Point and there’s still a lot of activity happening as we get ready for our typical off-season schedule.

We spend a lot of time planning for the upcoming season, but that also involves a lot of hard labor to take things down, inspect them and rebuild for the new year.

Let’s take a trip around the park and see where things are in their process…

At the Midway Carousel, something’s a little…off...

More on this later.

Near Giant Wheel, the cabins are off and hanging out near Troika as they await their inspection time. It’s kind of like going to the doctor’s office and waiting for your turn. But not really. Eh, I tried.

Over at the greatest roller coaster on the planet (no arguing with this, please), all three trains are off the tracks and are being taken into the shop one by one...

Further down the Frontier Trail, Curtis and his friends are gone for a winter vacation. And don’t you worry – they’ll be back again in May. They’re kind of a big deal.

Near Skyhawk, I caught the Mine Ride trains lined up on the midway waiting to head out...

And the twins are inseparable. Well, until we separate them for overhaul…

I found the close cousins of the Midway Carousel horses hanging out back in our shop:

These Cedar Downs horses, along with several from our other carousels, will undergo a repaint and freshening-up before the 2022 season. We’ll bring you that process when it happens – I think it’s pretty cool that we take care of these guys and gals right here on our property.

Oh, and look what I found….

That’s all for now. I’ll keep you posted on more park happenings as they…happen!
