A Special Message

Jason McClure

Vice President & General Manager

The final Cedar Point weekend always comes with mixed emotions.

The reason I love my job is the fact that I get to see all the smiles on our guests’ faces.

However, I’m ready to ratchet down the intensity a notch or two. When Cedar Point is open, the pace can be relentless, while the off-season pace provides the chance to catch your breath.

Throughout our final weekend, I frequently hear these things from our guests and associates; "Wow does time fly;" "The season went so fast;" "I can’t believe it’s the last weekend!!!"

And this brings up an interesting concept. I’m a bit more practical about time. Maybe even annoyingly so.

Time is the one constant in life. Seconds tick off the clock and days flip by on the calendar. It’s always the same. Time doesn’t fly by; it never slows down.

It’s our mindset that changes; our approach to time.

I know that is a bit nitpicky, but I think it is an important delineation. We should all own the fact that we control how we use our time, and along those lines, time is valuable. It is finite.

While we all have the same amount of minutes in a day and days in a year, we don’t all use that time the same. I have always valued the concept of evaluating time by how you “spend” it, rather than how you “pass” the time. Time is a precious commodity.

This is why I genuinely appreciate you as you choose to visit Cedar Point. I know you could spend your time anywhere, and you choose to do it here.

Thank you for doing so, and I hope we have validated that choice by providing a great experience.

Our team has a singular purpose: to make people happy. And our guests deserve to be happy when spending their time at Cedar Point.

I also appreciate our associates that give so much of their time to our guests, especially during the operating season. A seasonal business requires a big commitment. Our team works hard year-round, but from May through October, the park demands a lot of time. Their passion for the park and our guests’ experience comes through every day.

Another thing I hear a lot on the final weekend is actually a question: "What are you going to do with your time when the park is closed?"

Well, the park may not be open, but the business never stops. I am excited to focus on our future plans and work with our team to make sure 2019 is the best year yet for Cedar Point.

Also, I look forward to a bit more balance. I need to close the time deficit gap with my family and how cool to get an actual full weekend off!!!

Plus, I wrote my first blog entry! And, it certainly won’t be the last. I will take this opportunity to share a look inside our offseason: what I’m working on, or what I am thinking about. Mostly, but not exclusively, regarding Cedar Point.

Plus, I can answer some of your questions here as well.

No matter what though, the one thing that’s a definite for my upcoming off-season: I will make sure my time is spent wisely.

So thanks again for taking the time to read this and for visiting us this summer. What do you plan to do with your time during Cedar Point’s long off-season?
