On this very special episode of the OnPoint Blog…

We’re digging a little deeper into your 2023 summer (and winter) event planning.

Over on our events page, we’ve just released our schedule of signature events for the 2023 season! From Frontier Festival to HalloWeekends to our fabulous 4th of July fireworks, you can now see dates and a little bit of info on each event.

We’ll have more information on each event as we get closer, but now’s the time to start planning your visit to Cedar Point. Don’t forget – you can also book your overnight stay at any one of our special Cedar Point Resorts properties.

I’d like to dive a little deeper into our Winter Chill Out event, arguably one of the most popular of the year. This annual behind-the-scenes winter walking tour of the park is a special one, and each year, it gains in popularity. It’s the first chance for you to see our ongoing construction projects like The Boardwalk, enjoy a yummy lunch and have the opportunity to learn more about the park from our leadership teams.

With a majority of the proceeds going to our friends at A Kid Again, it not only helps a cause our team believes in, but also allows you to see the park in a completely different way. It’s even extra special if we get a little snow!

Let’s dive in.

Event Dates

There are some significant changes to the 2023 Winter Chill Out. For starters, we’ve expanded it to a 2-day event, both Saturday AND Sunday, February 25 & 26. This will allow more guests to have the opportunity to attend! For a little more clarification, a ticket will be valid for either day, so it’s essentially the “same” event both days, not a 2-day combined extravaganza.

New - Lottery System

Recognizing the high demand for these tickets and to level the playing field, we’re introducing a “lottery” application system.

Beginning Monday, January 9, 2023, and lasting through Friday, January 13, we’ll open a lottery registration form on the Winter Chill Out page, and you can fill it out any time during the week (no pressure to get online at a certain time to register).

All guests who wish to attend Winter Chill Out will need to enter the lottery; you will not be able to purchase tickets immediately, as has been offered before. We ask that prior to the lottery going live, you take the time to organize your group and designate one person to sign up on your group’s behalf. You can request up to 4 tickets per group, and you will only be permitted to select either Saturday OR Sunday.

And Then?

The following week, we will randomly select lottery entries for each day of the event, and in turn, they will be sent an invite via email to go in and purchase their group’s tickets for Winter Chill Out.

That’s it. Follow me on Twitter for any specific updates/questions.

Fine Print

More information is coming later. This new system allows everyone to have an equal chance at getting tickets and will eliminate any technical challenges during the purchase process. We’re encouraging you to get organized now, so you’ll be ready to sign up the week of January 9.

Duplicate entries will be removed from the lottery pool (including any that are submitted for both days), and filling out multiple entries, even by different guests in your group, does not increase the chance of being chosen.

More to come later, but for now, enjoy the holiday season with family & friends, and we will hopefully see some of you in February!
