Ride Mechanic

We're currently seeking an experienced leader to join our Cedar Point Ride Maintenance Team as a Ride Mechanic. This position will report to the Supervisor of Ride Maintenance.

JOB FUNCTION SUMMARY

Responsible for the inspection, routine maintenance, lubrication and repairs of all rides.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS 

  • Mechanical aptitude and experience working with hand tools.
  • Ability to provide own hand tools.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in electronic, electrical, and mechanical work.
  • Must join the Laborers Union.
  • Possess good work ethic and exemplary attendance records.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Driver's License.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow all company policies and safety rules. Make sure all rides are properly locked out before any maintenance is performed.
  • Maintain daily log sheets of inspections and repairs performed.
  • Inspect, conduct routine maintenance, lubrication, and repairs of rides as instructed including replacement of bearings, wheels, miscellaneous parts, and oil changes.
  • Use soldering, hand, and power tools to perform tasks and repairs.
  • Notify maintenance of equipment problems, building repairs, etc. necessary to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Read and understand checklists, instruction manuals, etc.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment.
  • Provides guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including
  • initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Cedar Fair Safety guidelines
  • and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Meets Cedar Fair's attendance requirements as outlined in Cedar Fair's attendance policies.
  • Adheres to Cedar Fair's Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards as outlined in Associate
  • Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Youth Sales Representative

JOB FUNCTIONS SUMMARY

Reporting to the Group Sales Director, the Youth Sales Representative is responsible for developing, managing, and increasing sales within the youth business segment. This position is expected to meet or exceed specific attendance and revenue goals as prescribed by the Corporate Sales Incentive Plan by customarily and regularly soliciting sales at the customers’ and potential customers’ places of business, at trade and association shows, and through prescribed and acceptable sales processes used by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company.


QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires the following education and experience, or an equivalent combination of both:

  • Bachelor's Degree (4-year college or university).
  • 1-2 years of related experience in theme park, hospitality, entertainment or travel industry.

 

SKILLS

  • Negotiation and sales skills required.
  • Demonstrated sales skills and sales goal achievements.
  • Proficient in basic business software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfortable with learning new software and CRM applications.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required by business and account demands.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills; experience creating and delivering public presentations; superior spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Strong time and project management skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an independent environment with minimum supervision and deliver against set goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the Group Sales Call Center with up to five seasonal associates. Trains, develops processes and procedures for successful handling of inbound group calls.
  • Manages the successful execution of all on park activities for all Youth Events with in park and Group Sale staff Assistance.
  • Represents park at trade shows and other networking events.
  • Delivers sales and revenue goals established for youth event business.
  • Adheres to all park policies and procedures, including attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.
  • Recommends new or different programs to meet the needs of each client including new catering options, ticket programs, or other revenue streams to meet the wishes of the client. Works with the Corporate Director of Youth Sales developing programs for his/her respective park that are in alignment with corporate youth business direction.
  • Performs other work that furthers individual outside sales efforts.  For example, prospecting for new account opportunities through networking with member associations events and contacts; collaboration with the Corporate Director of Youth Sales, and Cedar Fair sales counterparts; follow up communication via telephone and written materials; planning and preparing for outside sales calls; preparing and analyzing sales reports; preparing proposals and other individual marketing and sales materials; providing tours of event and park facilities; and, ensuring full account support to all clients with regard to marketing  and on site coordination of events and activities.
  • Develops, manages, and sells to new and existing accounts within the youth business segment through in person sales and service calls as well as through telephone and web outreach for remotely based clients and prospects.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.

Supervisor of Technical Services

JOB FUNCTIONS SUMMARY

Oversees the Tech Services department responsible for the sound and audio visual requirements for Cedar Point.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires the following education and experience, or an equivalent combination of both:

  • Bachelor's Degree (4-year college or university).
  • 5-7 years in entertainment-based industry, military or related experience.

 

SKILLS

  • Ability to effectively communicate, follow directions, and manage a large number of technical demands daily.
  • Must have good organizational and supervisory skills.
  • Must have extensive experience in audio, audio control systems, video, surveillance video, land mobile radio, electronics,     acoustics and networking fields
  • Ability to handle a flexible and demanding schedule.  Must be capable of assuming broad responsibilities and possess the ability to react quickly to fast paced operational changes daily.
  • Ability to respond quickly to a broad spectrum of areas throughout the park.  Must be able to quickly adapt to constant changes in electronic equipment and software.
  • Must have knowledge of all laws and regulations pertaining to FCC Land Mobile Radio communications.
  • Must be well versed and able to use a computer including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer, audio editing software in both PC and Mac formats, audio/show control systems, and land mobile radio programming software.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with Laborer's Union (Local 480) Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises direct reports daily work performance, provides coaching and counseling regarding performance and disciplinary situations, and provides credible input into discipline, promotion, demotion and termination decisions.
  • Provides direction to staff to ensure adherence to all safety and housekeeping standards and policies established by the company and various regulatory agencies. Identifies safety concerns and sets the example in order to promote a safe and clean workplace.  Conducts safety meetings and inspections.
  • Plans, coordinates, and oversees daily Technical Services operations, ensuring safe and efficient operations through proper training and adherence to standard operating guidelines Works within approved budget.  Makes adjustments and implements action to achieve cost savings.  Acquires approval for cost increases.
  • Applies technical, professional or product expertise to development and implement practical work solutions to specific area(s) of responsibility
  • Communicates with associates at all levels within the park and occasionally Corporate and key vendors, business/professional contacts. Utilizes various formats of communication including verbal, written and statistical data.  Communications may be complex and cover a variety of business related topics. Develops and maintains professional working relationships with internal department and counterparts, and external organizations.
  • Reviews and ensures weekly payroll is accurate and complete.
  • Operates a vehicle, vacuum, AV equipment, computer, printer, copier, phone, smart phone, iPad for audio system control, two way radio, camera, calculator, etc.
  • Participates in new construction projects and installations requiring Technical Services support.
  • Refers to policy and procedure manuals, manufacturer manuals, technical bulletins, emergency manuals, and all laws and regulations pertinent to technical issues.
  • Receives and reviews various records and reports including: schedules, budgets, diagrams, blue prints, schematics, downtime reports, first aid reports, time and attendance reports, inventory logs, and MSDS.
  • Oversees the upkeep of department equipment and contacts appropriate departments to assist with this.
  • Attends, facilitates, and participates in meetings.
  • Establishes, implements, and evaluates departmental operational policies and procedures. Keeps the management team informed of all major developments within area of responsibility.
  • Ensures Technical Services is compliant with all corporate, divisional, and departmental policies and procedures
  • Prepares accurate reports and maintains proper documentation for Technical Services' land mobile radio inventory/repairs log and daily operational service logs.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO     policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.

Area Manager of Park Services

  • Must be patient, poised and able to cope with situations under pressure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews all daily, weekly, and monthly reports associated with operating units including, damage reports,  break and meal period schedules, location schedules, equipment & vehicle maintenance, etc. Ensures reports are timely and accurate.
  • Provides direction to staff to ensure adherence to all safety and housekeeping standards and policies established by the Company and various regulatory agencies.  Identifies safety concerns and sets the example in order to promote a safe and clean workplace. Conducts safety meetings and inspections.
  • Trains and directs staff in providing guest service according to Cedar Fair standards on an overall basis; serves as an example to personnel by following guest service standards; takes appropriate actions to correct poor guest service or recognize superior guest service; responds to and resolves more complex typical guest concerns that cannot be resolved at the unit level.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of operating budget for areas of responsibility. Makes overall adjustments to meet departmental goals.
  • Works in a fast paced environment.
  • Oversees several departments with direct/indirect reports. Manages associate performance utilizing all appropriate means including coaching, counseling and discipline. Sets priorities, expectations and monitors assignments. Evaluates staff and initiates actions to resolve performance problems and associate conflicts.
  • Communicates with associates at all levels of the Company and key external contacts including vendors, other business contacts, regulatory agencies and local, state or federal government offices. Utilizes various formats of communication including verbal, written and statistical data. Communications may be complex and cover a variety of business related topics.
  • Prepare and execute the Associate Transportation System, including managing schedules, training drivers, and facilitating special transportation for associate activities. Monitors Park Services supplies warehouse, ensuring adequate supplies are ordered, received and distributed efficiently.
  • Monitors Park Services Management software, including Big Belly CLEAN, ISS 24/7 Checkpoint and IMS Module, to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and accountability.
  • Encourages and ensures a safe and pleasant working environment for all associates. Maintains appropriate staffing levels by, hiring, training, and scheduling seasonal staff.  Assists in selecting and developing and training seasonal supervisory team.
  • Operates a vehicle, pressure washer, vacuum, buffer, wet vac, computer, printer, copier, phone, two way radio, calculator, etc.
