Cedar Point is looking for an experienced Marketing Manager who is passionate about making the turnstile spin, motivating thrill seekers of all ages to visit The Roller Coaster Capital of the World® through innovative advertising and marketing campaigns and programs. Responsible for leading all paid consumer marketing efforts including mass advertising, online promotions, retail and local partnerships, TV/radio promotions, season pass, CRM, mobile and email marketing to achieve annual park and resort attendance and revenue goals. Develops annual integrated strategic marketing plans for Cedar Point, Soak City & Wildwater Kingdom theme and water parks as well as Cedar Point Resorts. Serves as brand manager for all marketing communication, working with the VP, to manage the agency of record as well as internal/external design resources across all paid consumer channels. Maintains overall all consumer pricing, promotions, collateral, in park marketing, mobile, email/CRM, sponsorship activation and special events. Manages 4 fulltime employees plus seasonal staff.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees all revenue and attendance programs for Cedar Point theme park, Soak City and Wildwater Kingdom water parks and Resort & Accommodations including park general admission, online sales, mass retailer ticket/gift card retail partnerships, discount coupon partners, season pass program and resort tickets and packages.
  • Develops and presents integrated annual strategic plans for Cedar Point theme park, Soak City and Wildwater Kingdom water parks and Cedar Point Resort & Accommodations to achieve annual revenue, attendance and room night goals.
  • Leads integrated message planning and rollout across all paid, earned and owned marketing channels and disciplines.
  • Analyzes Consumer Marketing performance on a weekly basis, using data to identify business trends, accurately forecast results and recommend reactive in-season marketing tactics.
  • Park liaison for any Consumer insights/brand tracking, demographic or guest satisfaction research. Shares and communicates park insights and needs to park leadership and Corporate marketing teams.
  • Day-to-day agency management for Cedar Point, Soak City, WildWater Kingdom & Resorts and Accomodations creative, media planning, execution and advertising effectiveness/metrics.
  • Directs internal and external design resources for local advertising and in house production needs; provides creative direction and approvals; assists with copywriting when needed.
  • Serves as brand manager for the Marketing division for all paid, earned, owned and Group Sales channels to assure brand standards and messaging are being used consistently and effectively. Supervises all print collateral and static in park creative development and production
  • Park representative and key liaison for all local, regional and state tourism marketing and advertising opportunities as well as local market partnerships with other entertainment attractions, teams and venues.
  • Oversees all ancillary marketing efforts for WildWater Kingdom, Castaway Bay, outside restaurants, marinas and HR recruitment.
  • Responsible for maintaining and communicating annual pricing, promotional offers and operational calendars for Marketing Division.
  • Responsible for developing and overseeing Consumer Marketing expense budget as well as divisional rollup including PR/social, Group Sales and Resort departments.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Vice President of Marketing.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. Liberal Arts or related course of study, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 - 7 years professional related experience in marketing large venue, amusement parks, or hospitality industries.
  • Previous supervisory experience desired.
  • High degree of professionalism. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision and deliver against set goals.
  • Strong time and project management skills and experience. Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong strategic planning skills and advertising knowledge with creative and brand management experience
  • Above average knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator software.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English at a level sufficient to conduct employee meetings; provide detailed direction to staff, guests, and vendors; and write policies, procedures, reports and other business related documents and correspondence.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory or random drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
  • Must meet all Cedar Fair professional grooming standards. Must be able to adhere to department scheduling requirements including weekends and holidays, as required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Operates a vehicle and a variety of equipment such as a computer, copier, calculator, telephone, two way radio, fax machine, and other general office equipment.
  • Operates vehicles such as a fire pumper, rescue truck, ambulance, scooters, generators, fire suppression equipment, rescue/extrication equipment, gas detection equipment, weather monitoring equipment, first aid equipment, personnel protective equipment, etc.
  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, other Park management, staff and employees, subordinates, corporate personnel, guests, vendors, emergency response personnel, law enforcement personnel, insurance representatives, auditors, inspectors, various government agencies, hospital/health care personnel, etc.
  • Disseminates safety information and requirements to other Park departments as needed. Attends training, workshops, meetings, etc. as required or appropriate.
  • Assists in coordinating safety and emergency protocols with local emergency response agencies.
  • . Assists in covering shifts as Safety Officer, acting as coordinator for all daily activities of the department within the Park and as liaison between Safety and other departmental management. Responds to after hours emergencies and incidents as required.
  • Ensures that federal, state and local fire/safety laws, regulations, codes and standards are observed and that required records and reports are completed and maintained.
  • Monitors and inspects equipment, buildings and grounds as required, takes corrective action as necessary to enforce compliance. Assists the Director of Safety in supervising all phases of the Park's safety program, including fire prevention, safety, first aid, environmental issues and emergency planning. Receives and reviews various records and reports including incident and accident reports, inspection reports, health and safety reports, fire logs, safety data sheets, etc. Refers to policies and procedures, codes, regulations, standards, laws, training handbooks, operating guidelines, etc..
  • Coordinate case management of all employee workers compensation claims, including maintaining all related documentation, conducting investigations as necessary, and completion of all required reports. Develop and conduct employee safety training sessions. Prepares and/or processes inspection reports, inspection/safety guidelines, various reports required by regulatory agencies, purchase orders, safety data sheets, and various records, routine reports, memos, correspondence, etc..
  • Supervises subordinate safety personnel, supervisory duties include instructing, assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; recruiting and selecting new employees; acting on employee problems; recommending and approving employee promotions, transfers and discipline, and recommending discharge. Reviews the work of subordinates for effectiveness, evaluates and makes recommendations as appropriate; offers training, advice and assistance as needed.
  • Coordination of the Park’s safety program, including policies and procedures relating to OSHA compliance, facility safety inspections and corrective action program, OSHA record keeping program, and safety training program, including hazardous communication, ladder usage, fall protection, lock out, and respirator use. Assists in the development and implementation of Park safety standard operating guidelines.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.
  • Solves problems with minimal supervision. Organizes and prioritizes to meet deadlines.
  • Leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated abilities to both work collaboratively and to influence those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exists.
  • Follows written and verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with office automation/communication software and tools used in the Safety and Health environment.
  • Works in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to understand safety codes and regulations and apply that understanding to situations.
