Ride Mechanic

We're currently seeking an experienced leader to join our Cedar Point Ride Maintenance Team as a Ride Mechanic. This position will report to the Supervisor of Ride Maintenance.

JOB FUNCTION SUMMARY

Responsible for the inspection, routine maintenance, lubrication and repairs of all rides.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS 

  • Mechanical aptitude and experience working with hand tools.
  • Ability to provide own hand tools.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in electronic, electrical, and mechanical work.
  • Must join the Laborers Union.
  • Possess good work ethic and exemplary attendance records.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Driver's License.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow all company policies and safety rules. Make sure all rides are properly locked out before any maintenance is performed.
  • Maintain daily log sheets of inspections and repairs performed.
  • Inspect, conduct routine maintenance, lubrication, and repairs of rides as instructed including replacement of bearings, wheels, miscellaneous parts, and oil changes.
  • Use soldering, hand, and power tools to perform tasks and repairs.
  • Notify maintenance of equipment problems, building repairs, etc. necessary to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Read and understand checklists, instruction manuals, etc.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment.
  • Provides guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including
  • initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Cedar Fair Safety guidelines
  • and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Meets Cedar Fair's attendance requirements as outlined in Cedar Fair's attendance policies.
  • Adheres to Cedar Fair's Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards as outlined in Associate
  • Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Manager of Rides Maintenance

We're currently seeking an experienced leader to join Cedar Point's Maintenance Division as Manager of our Rides Maintenance Team. This position will report to the Director of Rides & Electrical Maintenance.

JOB FUNCTION SUMMARY

Directs all Mechanical Maintenance functions including, Rides, Auto Repair, Welding, Boiler Plant, Laundry Equipment, Machine Shop, Tool Crib, Logistics, Railroad, and Water Quality. Manages budgets for the departments and related special projects. Individual is responsible for keeping all mechanical systems, equipment and machinery in good working order, in safe manner and compliant with local, state and federal codes and regulations.


QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Associate’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.  
  • 5-7 years related experience in an amusement park environment. 
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience with multiple reporting relationships.
  • Driver’s license.
  • Must be capable of assuming broad responsibilities and possess the ability to react quickly to fast paced operational changes daily.
  • Must have knowledge of all laws and regulations pertaining to the amusement park industry.
  • Ability to respond quickly to a broad spectrum of areas throughout the park.
  • Ability to handle a flexible and demanding schedule.
  • Must have good organizational and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, follow directions, and manage a large number of technical demands daily.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews daily, weekly, and monthly department paperwork and reports, and takes action to implement appropriate corrective actions to resolve operational concerns.
  • Supervises several departments within the Maintenance division. Ensures training and provides direction to associates. Coaches and counsels associates to improve performance. Delegates work assignments. Motivates staff to achieve optimum job performance through positive feedback and personal example. Must be able to manage personnel issues fairly while maintaining the company's rights in a union environment.
  • Communicates with associates at all levels of the Company and key external contacts including vendors, other business contacts, regulatory agencies and local, state or federal government offices. Utilizes various formats of communication including verbal, written and statistical data. Communications may be complex and cover a variety of business related topics.
  • Ensures that all ride inspections both pre season and during the season are in compliance with regulatory agency standards and safety mandates.
  • Ensures that the Director Rides & Electrical Maintenance and Vice President of Maintenance and New Construction is aware of all important incidents within the Rides Maintenance Group.
  • Manages a Parts Crib so that maximum efficiency at the best price is obtained for the Maintenance Division.
  • Must be capable of obtaining bids, writing purchase orders, ordering parts, and managing contractors within Cedar Fair's purchasing policies so that a quality facility is maintained for the best price.
  • Develops and maintains operating budgets for all departments in the group, monitors all expenses by these groups to insure safety first, makes decisions to maintain expenses within budget while providing a quality environment for Cedar Point's guests.
  • Regularly inspects, monitors, makes recommendations, and coordinates changes on rides to insure rider safety.
  • Ensures that all subordinate maintenance associates comply with all applicable safety rules and regulations.
  • Manages departments both in overhaul and operation to insure that an appropriate level of ride uptime is achieved to include planning and executing an affective overhaul schedule to achieve maximum results at the best price.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.

Technical Services Technician

JOB FUNCTION SUMMARY

Responsibilities include installation, maintenance and repair of digital and analog audio systems, video, projection, data displays and wired/wireless public address sound equipment and RF communication equipment. Daily audio/video setup and tear down for special events.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years electronics, audio and video systems, bench tech repairs.
  • Must have working knowledge of digital and analog audio and video systems and equipment, strong troubleshooting skills, system and bench testing and repair, CCTV systems and equipment, computer literacy, wireless and RF technologies.
  • Must have the ability to read and execute from blue prints, technical drawings and technical specifications and have the ability to install, rebuild and repair electronics equipment as necessary.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.

  • Completes a variety of simple assignments specific to a single job in a timely manner. Climb heights (coaster lift hills and ladders) and extensive walking of the midways during park operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs the development and implementation of the Merchandise and Games strategy for the Park and Resort business.  Scope includes annual operations planning, store operations, product development and design, sourcing, pricing and staff development.  Ability to manage change and foster team commitment to develop business plans and achieve short and long term objectives. Responds to business trends and quickly makes adjustments. Effectively works across the organization to achieve results.
  • Leads, develops and motivates full time staff, as well as a large seasonal team. Manages direct reports’ performance issues, addresses disciplinary situations, and provides significant input into promotion, demotion, and termination decisions; reviews, adjusts and approves performance appraisals for department staff on an annual basis.  
  • Develops and implements safety procedures and policies adhering to all safety and housekeeping standards established by the company and various regulatory agencies.  Corrects safety concerns and trains staff as required to promote a safe and clean workplace.
  • Establishes overall guest standards and policies for operating group, encouraging innovations in providing guest service and improving the overall guest experience; promotes excellence in guest service with all levels of staff; responds to and resolves the most complex guest issues.
  • Full knowledge and responsibility for fiscally responsible accounting and budgeting. Develops and approves operating budget for areas of responsibility to meet overall organization goals of revenue production, cost containment, loss prevention and overall profitability. Identifies and makes adjustments to optimize profits and meet Company goals based on current business conditions. 
  • Identifies, researches and analyzes complex issues with a large number of nonstandard or abstract variables to solve a wide range of intellectual and practical problems; develops and implements multifaceted solutions to achieve overall goals of Company. Uses strategic and innovative thinking to improve financial results, product quality and guest service.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely with associates at all levels of the Company and key external contacts including vendors, other business contacts, regulatory agencies and local, state or federal government offices. Utilizes various formats of communication including verbal, written and statistical data. Communications may be complex and cover a variety of business related topics.
  • Establishes pricing policies relative to the purchase of retail merchandise for Cedar Point and its retail outlets. Negotiates concession and supplier contract agreements for the Merchandise and Games Division.

Kitchen Manager - Perkins Restaurant

JOB FUNCTION SUMMARY

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Minimum Associates Degree in Culinary or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years kitchen experience in related franchise experience
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend Perkins 8 12 week Corporate Manager Training away from Cedar Point.
  • Place accurate orders of food & beverage following Perkins standard.  Twice weekly from the main purveyor, daily produce, dairy 2-3 times a week, and weekly warehouse.
  • Perform daily shift temperature line checks.
  • Perform weekly inventory per Perkins and Cedar Point guidelines.
  • Achieve all financial and budgetary goals.
  • Meet hiring quota for proper staffing.
  • Initiate corrective/improvement action as needed or at the manager's direction.
  • Ensure all company and division procedures and policies are being executed in a consistent manner.
  • Prepare any required reports or food orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Train all kitchen personnel to ensure their job duties are carried out in the proper manner at all times in accordance with Perkins kitchen certification program and EYS validation.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary environment at all times in accordance to state, local health regulations as well as the Resort Foods Service Cleanliness Standards.
  • Ensure all menu items are prepared in accordance to recipe and preparation standards for Perkins.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.
