Activities Supervisor

We're currently seeking an experienced leader to join our Accommodations Division as Activities Supervisor. This position will report to the General Manager of Hotel Breakers.

JOB FUNCTIONS SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the design and implementation of organized guest activities and ensuring guest satisfaction throughout all Cedar Point hotel properties.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Event Planning, Business Administration or related field of study. 1-2 years related work experience.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning and priority management skills.
  • Demonstrated creativity and energy.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Driver's License
  • ServSafe certification

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work Manager on Duty shifts, as required, and assists front office operationsas needed.
  • Coordinate the purchase and inventory of all supplies and equipment needed for guest activities.
  • Supervises tasks, assignments and projects for self and others, ensuring they are completed accurately and by required deadlines; adheres to and consistently enforces all Company, division and department policies and procedures with staff; delegating effectively to meet deadlines and ensure desired results.
  • Develops and works within approved budget, making necessary adjustments and implementing actions to achieve desired results.
  • Create activity plans appropriate to the needs of the guests and occupancy levels that may include, but are not limited to, indoor and outdoor activities, creative activities such as arts and crafts, movie nights and pool and beach activities. Works with Live Entertainment Division to schedule character appearances and visits.
  • Recruit, train and supervise Activity associates. Manages associate performance utilizing all appropriate means including coaching, counseling, and discipline. Set priorities, expectations and monitors delegated assignments. Evaluates staff and initiates actions to resolve performance and associate conflicts.
  • Develops and implements overall guest service standards for the Activities department that are consistent with established Cedar Fair standards, promoting excellence in guest service at all times; develops and approves appropriate actions to correct poor guest service or recognize superior service; responds to and resolves guest concerns.
  • Adheres to, and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.
  • Ability to use basic audio visual equipment for presentations and activities.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Suite programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Human Resources Area Manager

We're currently seeking an experienced leader to join our Human Resources Team as an Area Manager. This position will report to Cedar Point's Manager of Human Resources.

JOB FUNCTIONS SUMMARY

Assists in planning, developing, implementing and adminstering Cedar Point's seasonal recruiting program. Ensures day-to-day operations of the HR office are performed successfully. Oversees the company training programs, on-boarding processes and employee relations for over 7,000 seasonal associates. Achives financial goals by effective management of staffing and labor controls. Utlizes effective associate relations techniques to optimize service and applicant quality. Performs related supervisory and professional work as requried.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Bachelor’s Degree in human resources or equivalent with 1-2 years relevant work experience.

 

  • Able to effectively apply verbal, quantitative and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess a high level of organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be interested in working with people of all backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to often work irregular hours and deal with the unexpected.
  • Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to speak in front of groups and give presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Microsoft Office software and Office Suite programs.
  • Able and willing to travel (domestically and internationally) for recruiting quality applicants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in communicating and distributing seasonal benefit information including, but not limited to, ACA compliance, periodic seasonal benefit communications and other verbal or written communications, as directed.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities for HRIS systems, including payroll (Accero), ATS (JobNet), TAS (WorkForce), scheduling (When To Work), Unemployment Claims processing and On‑boarding processes (Equifax, ERS), including processing and report writing, as required.
  • Assists in all facets of the seasonal recruiting program strategies and development including pre‑season and post‑season college recruiting, J‑1 program, local and domestic programs.
  • Oversees the seasonal orientation training programs to include staffing of trainers, program development and refinements.
  • Communicates with associates at all levels of the Company and key external contacts including vendors, other business contacts, regulatory agencies and local, state or federal government offices. Utilizes various formats of communication including verbal, written and statistical data. Communications may be complex and cover a variety of business related topics.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of operating budget for areas of responsibility.  Make overall adjustments to meet departmental goals.
  • Provide training and direction to line associates Coach and counsel associates to improve performance. Delegate work assignments.  Motivate staff to achieve optimum job performance through positive feedback and personal example.
  • Work with associates and management to determine, document and implement religious job accommodations.
  • Work with associates, management and First Aid staff to determine, document and implement reasonable job accommodations based on the employee's verified claim of disability.
  • In conjunction with the HR Manager, monitor the associate progressive discipline system to include reviewing issued disciplinary action, reviewing and approving final warnings and terminations. Work with division management, counsel and coach division management regarding consistency of disciplinary actions.
  • Act as an employee relations representative for concerns involving associate issues such as harassment and discrimination claims. Receive initial associate complaint reports, conduct investigations and recommend corrective actions. Accurately and thoroughly document investigations. Liaise with Cedar Point Security/Detective Bureau to follow‑up on police reports involving associates.
  • Adhere to and enforce all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.

Reservations Manager

Manages all aspects of the Guest Contact Department & Center. Implements management's recommendations to improve overall standards and procedures in the department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews content in Opera PMS configuration for all Cedar Point properties making change/update recommendations. Loads rates and packages in Opera and in on-line booking engine for Cedar Point Resort Properties. Reviews email confirmation letters through Opera and OWS making changes/improvements when necessary. Reviews information on Cedar Point Resorts online booking engine and submits update recommendations. Oversees processing of guests’ deposits, refunds and transfer of funds for Cedar Point/Cedar Fair properties. Maintains pricing and offers presented to guests through Nor1 Upgrade Software.
  • Reviews daily, weekly, and monthly department paperwork and reports, and takes action to implement appropriate corrective actions to resolve operational concerns.
  • Prepares and administers annual department operating budget; makes overall adjustments (labor, ODC, COG) throughout the year to meet division specific goals.
  • Provides direction to staff to ensure adherence to all safety and housekeeping standards and policies established by the company and various regulatory agencies. Identifies safety concerns and sets the example in order to promote a safe and clean workplace.
  • Develops and implements overall guest service standards for specific department/division of responsibility that are consistent with established Cedar Fair standards, promoting excellence in guest service at all times. Develops and approves appropriate actions to correct poor guest service or recognize superior guest service; responds to and resolves more complex or non-typical guest complaints involving areas of responsibility.
  • Manages several departments with full time direct and 50+ indirect part time/seasonal reports. Manages associate performance utilizing all appropriate means including coaching, counseling and discipline. Sets priorities, expectations and monitors assignments. Evaluates staff and initiates actions to resolve performance problems and associate conflicts. Applies technical, professional or product expertise to development and implement practical work solutions to departments of responsibility.
  • Communicates with associates at all levels of the Company and key external contacts including vendors, other business contacts, regulatory agencies and local, state or federal government offices. Utilizes various formats of communication including verbal, written and statistical data. Communications may be complex and cover a variety of business related topics.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.
