Food & Beverage Manager - Cedar Point Sports Center Operations

We're currently seeking an experienced leader to join our Food & Beverage Division as Manager of Cedar Point Sports Center Operations. This position will report to Cedar Point's Vice President of Food & Beverage.

JOB FUNCTIONS SUMMARY

Oversees the operations and management of Sports Force Parks at Cedar Point Sports Center operations, which includes quick service restaurants, concessionaires and portables and serves as the Cedar Point liaison for tournament ticketing and distribution.  Ensures Best Day (service) Experience and overall food quality while meeting or exceeding revenue goals. Manages overall cost of goods and food inventories to make budgetary and financial goals.  Operates safe Food & Beverage operations by adhering to all health codes and required licensing. Manages labor and other costs to meet goals.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, hospitality or related degree with 2-4 years related experience.
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • ServSafe and ServSafe Alcohol certification
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Driver's License

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaison with concessionaire partners at facility (i.e. Subway).
  • Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.
  • Ensures Best Day Experience for service levels in operating units under direct supervisory control while ensuring the highest food quality and selection is consistently available.
  • Manages direct reports’ performance issues, addresses disciplinary situations, and provides significant input into promotion, demotion, and termination decisions; reviews adjust and approves performance appraisals for department staff on an annual basis.
  • Reviews daily, weekly, and monthly Food & Beverage/labor paperwork and reports, and takes action to implement appropriate corrective actions to resolve operational concerns. Ensures all state and local health regulations are consistently meeting standards. Oversees any on‑site ticketing issues or needs working closely with Cedar Point finance, marketing and admissions teams on ticket sales, fulfillment and distribution.
  • Prepares and administers annual operating budget; makes overall adjustments (labor, ODC, COG) throughout the year to meet division specific goals for accountable operating units.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.

Housekeeping Manager

JOB FUNCTIONS SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Property Manager, the candidate in this position will coordinate the housekeeping operation of the newly-renovated Cedar Point's Express Hotel.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • High school graduate; college degree in hospitality management or similar preferred.
  • 1+ years professional hotel or fast-paced hospitality industry experience; 2+ years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong time and project management skills; strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with associates, vendors and guests in a positive, productive and professional manner.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English at a level sufficient to conduct associate meetings; provide detailed direction to associates, guests and vendors; write policies, procedures, reports and other business-related documents and correspondence.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory or random drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, credit criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state or provincial law.
  • Must meet Cedar Fair professional grooming standards. Must adhere to department scheduling requirements, including weekends and holidays as required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Cedar Fair Cornerstone philosophies of safety, service, cleanliness, courtesy and integrity.

  • Maintain a professional and service-oriented environment at all times.  Consistently provide the Best Day service experience.

  • Ensure guest rooms and public spaces are clean and serviced on a daily basis, according to hotel standards.

  • Supervise seasonal staff associates. Develops teams, supervisors, team leaders and other staff through training, coaching, mentoring, feedback and follow-up; builds positive cooperative relationships between co-workers.

  • Enforce established safety policies and procedures to ensure guest and associate safety and minimize losses.

  • Ensure staff compliance with all local, state and federal laws as the laws apply to the department.

  • Maintains effective open communication of staff and other departments to ensure department goals, policies and procedures are effectively being followed.

  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by division management.

Activities Supervisor

JOB FUNCTIONS SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the design and implementation of organized guest activities and ensuring guest satisfaction throughout all Cedar Point hotel properties.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Event Planning, Business Administration or related field of study. 1-2 years related work experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work Manager on Duty shifts, as required, and assists front office operationsas needed.
  • Coordinate the purchase and inventory of all supplies and equipment needed for guest activities.
  • Supervises tasks, assignments and projects for self and others, ensuring they are completed accurately and by required deadlines; adheres to and consistently enforces all Company, division and department policies and procedures with staff; delegating effectively to meet deadlines and ensure desired results.
  • Develops and works within approved budget, making necessary adjustments and implementing actions to achieve desired results.
  • Create activity plans appropriate to the needs of the guests and occupancy levels that may include, but are not limited to, indoor and outdoor activities, creative activities such as arts and crafts, movie nights and pool and beach activities. Works with Live Entertainment Division to schedule character appearances and visits.
  • Recruit, train and supervise Activity associates. Manages associate performance utilizing all appropriate means including coaching, counseling, and discipline. Set priorities, expectations and monitors delegated assignments. Evaluates staff and initiates actions to resolve performance and associate conflicts.
  • Develops and implements overall guest service standards for the Activities department that are consistent with established Cedar Fair standards, promoting excellence in guest service at all times; develops and approves appropriate actions to correct poor guest service or recognize superior service; responds to and resolves guest concerns.
  • Adheres to, and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.
  • Ability to use basic audio visual equipment for presentations and activities.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Suite programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Human Resources Area Manager

JOB FUNCTIONS SUMMARY

Assists in planning, developing, implementing and adminstering Cedar Point's seasonal recruiting program. Ensures day-to-day operations of the HR office are performed successfully. Oversees the company training programs, on-boarding processes and employee relations for over 7,000 seasonal associates. Achives financial goals by effective management of staffing and labor controls. Utlizes effective associate relations techniques to optimize service and applicant quality. Performs related supervisory and professional work as requried.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Bachelor’s Degree in human resources or equivalent with 1-2 years relevant work experience.

 

  • Able to effectively apply verbal, quantitative and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess a high level of organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be interested in working with people of all backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to often work irregular hours and deal with the unexpected.
  • Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to speak in front of groups and give presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Microsoft Office software and Office Suite programs.
  • Able and willing to travel (domestically and internationally) for recruiting quality applicants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in communicating and distributing seasonal benefit information including, but not limited to, ACA compliance, periodic seasonal benefit communications and other verbal or written communications, as directed.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities for HRIS systems, including payroll (Accero), ATS (JobNet), TAS (WorkForce), scheduling (When To Work), Unemployment Claims processing and On‑boarding processes (Equifax, ERS), including processing and report writing, as required.
  • Assists in all facets of the seasonal recruiting program strategies and development including pre‑season and post‑season college recruiting, J‑1 program, local and domestic programs.
  • Oversees the seasonal orientation training programs to include staffing of trainers, program development and refinements.
  • Communicates with associates at all levels of the Company and key external contacts including vendors, other business contacts, regulatory agencies and local, state or federal government offices. Utilizes various formats of communication including verbal, written and statistical data. Communications may be complex and cover a variety of business related topics.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of operating budget for areas of responsibility.  Make overall adjustments to meet departmental goals.
  • Provide training and direction to line associates Coach and counsel associates to improve performance. Delegate work assignments.  Motivate staff to achieve optimum job performance through positive feedback and personal example.
  • Work with associates and management to determine, document and implement religious job accommodations.
  • Work with associates, management and First Aid staff to determine, document and implement reasonable job accommodations based on the employee's verified claim of disability.
  • In conjunction with the HR Manager, monitor the associate progressive discipline system to include reviewing issued disciplinary action, reviewing and approving final warnings and terminations. Work with division management, counsel and coach division management regarding consistency of disciplinary actions.
  • Act as an employee relations representative for concerns involving associate issues such as harassment and discrimination claims. Receive initial associate complaint reports, conduct investigations and recommend corrective actions. Accurately and thoroughly document investigations. Liaise with Cedar Point Security/Detective Bureau to follow‑up on police reports involving associates.
  • Adhere to and enforce all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.
