Not Into Big Thrill Rides? Cedar Point Has Plenty of Fun for Everyone!

Howdy! My name is Crystal Amberlyn, and I am loving my first season at Cedar Point as an intern for the Communications Team. I am from the small village of Ada, Ohio where I study at Ohio Northern University. I am grateful to spend my summer in Sandusky and at the park, where every day is filled with beautiful views, kind people and fun adventures!

As a big thrill seeker, I love roller coasters. In fact, Steel Vengeance is my favorite ride, no question. Although there are many people like me who love rides, at Cedar Point we understand twists and turns are NOT everyone’s style.

For those who’d rather stay on the ground than soar through the sky, here are some options I find to be perfect for the non-rider.

Be Entertained

One of my family’s favorite things to do at the park is go to live shows. Some performers sing popular tunes, dance, perform tricks or all of the above! Join Snoopy’s musical dance party at Beach Blanket Beagle, sing along to chart topping songs in Nashville Hits or feast your eyes on the BMX amazement in Vertical Impact. Every year there is a new variety of shows for people of all ages. While walking through the park, it is nice to get off your feet, grab a seat and enjoy!

Drink and Dine

No matter how healthy I try to be, I am weak for good food, and Cedar Point has plenty of it! Whether you are a picky eater, have special dietary needs or are open to everything, you can be sure to find delicious food to satisfy your hunger.

Our newest restaurants in 2019 are Hugo's Italian Kitchen and BackBeatQue. Hugo's Italian Kitchen serves favorites like fresh-baked pizza, calzones, strombolis and chicken parmesean sandwiches. BackBeatQue is my new favorite! It has smokey brisket, hand-battered perch, really yummy shrimp and more. I've had both a few times and they never cease to amaze me.

I also really love Famous Dave's, Melt Bar and Grilled and T.G.I. Fridays on the Beach. They all have great options that will seriously delight your tastebuds. Naturally, you cannot leave without enjoying Dippin’ Dots, cheese-on-a-stick or our famous fresh-cut fries. Finally, what better icing on the cake than saving on your drinks and meals with our drink and dining deals!

Personally, I cannot wait to book a Boardwalk Cruiser Wine Tour. You catch gorgeous views of the Lake Erie shore as you relax aboard a Boardwalk Cruiser. Of course, you enjoy a drink in your commemorative Cedar Point wine glasses along the way, and yes, you get to take the glass home!

Collect Memories

Whenever I go to the park, I have to stop by as many shops as I can. There are so many! Each one has a fun mixture of collectibles, souvenirs, clothing, accessories and other gifts to get for a loved one (or yourself). Photographers can professionally capture your smile, or artists can draw your unique portrait. Don’t forget you can win a prize at one of the many midway games or the arcade! There are plenty of ways to take your Cedar Point experience home.

Explore and Experience

Looking for something different and new? We have plenty of options for that too! One of my favorite places to stop by is The Barnyard on the Frontier Trail. The animals always make me smile, and the alpacas are so soft! Cedar Point also hosts a variety of special events throughout the season such as Cedar Point Nights where we turn the beach into a glow party and Dive-in Movies at Cedar Point Shores. Frontier Festival is already a big hit! It really transports you back in time to the Old West with specialty food and drinks, activities, performances and more!

Here at Cedar Point, we are excited to have introduced a new land to explore this season: Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island. This interactive experience is bound to give you an entirely new look at the park. Venture through the island and discover the Wapi and Cayuga clans who call the island home. Not only do you unlock the story, you become a part of it!

Cedar Point is an escape and a place to get away from the noise of everyday life. Sometimes, it is nice to just enjoy the day and relax. The mile-long Cedar Point Beach is a peaceful place to watch the Lake Erie waves. You can also slide over to Cedar Point Shores to take a dip in the wave pool or float along my personal favorite, the Cedar Creek lazy river. I also think the hammocks at Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island are a great way to enjoy the day.

Yes, we are The Roller Coaster Capital of the World®, but we are much more. In fact, we are a Place Like No Other™. Our goal is for anyone and everyone to have an experience to remember, and rides are only a piece of what we have to offer.
