Looking Ahead to 2020

As we begin our winter work and wind down just a little, I wanted to connect with you again. I always appreciate the opportunity to share some of my thoughts and dialogue with you.

Next year, Cedar Point is celebrating its biggest season yet – the 150^th anniversary. When you think about it, there aren’t a lot of places that have been in business for that long, let alone half that time.

This is special.

Just like you, I’m honored to be here for this auspicious occasion. Although a lot has changed (and will change – we’ll get to that in a moment) over the years, the fundamentals of why we’re still here are the same.

Cedar Point is the place for summertime fun. It always has been. And when you look back at what was here in 1870 (the Cedar Point Beach, a bathhouse and beer garden), you probably think, “how was THAT any fun?” But that’s where the magic lies.

The root of what makes Cedar Point fun is time spent together.

Getting away from the routine, time together is what our early guests had, and they cherished it – the same way we do today. The distractions are definitely larger in number now, with the ever-present cell phone being the biggest culprit, but we still come to this place to make new memories, relax, unwind and even ride. Together.

So how do we continue to ensure your visit is as smooth as possible? We read your feedback and comments and we listen to you.

Just in time for next season, we’ll be making some important improvements to the way you access and navigate the park. We’ll be looking at changes inside the park to make your visit easier. We’ll continue to grow our special events, enhance our food offerings, entertain you in new ways and improve the overall experience to ensure the time you have here together is as special and memorable as it can be.

While we’ll be revealing bits and pieces of these improvements over the winter, our team is particularly excited to unveil the biggest portion of new offerings for our sesquicentennial season on Wednesday, December 11th – and that date is no coincidence. It begins the 150-day countdown to our opening day on Saturday, May 9.

And starting today, you can begin planning your 2020 visit, as we’ve launched our full operating calendar, shared some of our special event dates and made daily tickets available.

I couldn’t be more excited for 2020, and I hope you are, too.

You’ll see us mention this phrase a lot, and it really speaks to how far we’ve come and where we’re going. Hopefully, for hundreds of more years to come: The Fun is Just Beginning.
