A Photo Worth A Thousand Thrills

posted by on

Hey everyone! I’m Jordan Sternberg and I’m the park photographer and social media guy. I knew from a young age that I was destined to be a photographer, and what a cool opportunity I have here at Cedar Point, capturing some of the best photos ever.

Check out one of the more striking moments I've captured:

Whether you’re a professional or an amateur photographer, Cedar Point sure is the perfect place for taking cool photos. After all, it is one of the most Instagrammed places in Ohio.

I would like to share a few moments I’ve captured over my career here at the park. Buckle up. Are you ready? Hold on!

Nighttime is the best time to photograph the park. The lights. The fireworks. This is what we like to call long shutter speed. You can get some cool pics like this right from the midway. All you need is a tripod and a camera that allows you to control the shutter speed. When in doubt, internet tutorials can help.

Let’s take a step behind the scenes. How about… Rougarou! Sort of. This photo was taken on the day Mantis trains were removed from the track.

I’ll let you in on a little secret. When you see a Hapag Lloyd container on a truck, it means something really neat is being delivered. In this case - Valravn cars they arrived on the Cedar Point Penninsula.

Another cool part of the job is photographing famous people. Like LeBron James…

…or Matthew Dellavedova right after the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA Championship in 2016. Defend the Land!

This next one was a special moment. This was taken on our last operating day of 2013 when our former General Manager, John Hildebrandt (right) was retiring and Jason McClure, our new General Manager (left), was getting ready to start. The best part is, this moment wasn't staged and actually happened naturally.

Who loves cheesecake? Have you ever tried the delicious cheesecake at Bay Harbor? What are you waiting for???

Water thrills are extra fun to capture. A fast shutter speed can freeze the water particles in thin air! Cedar Point Shores Waterpark is an excellent place to capture some cool moments of kids at Lakeslide Landing or even petrified adults about to take the near-vertical drop on Point Plummet.

Last, but certainly not least, is the winter season. The bustling park of the summer turns into a calming and peaceful scene in the winter time. You can even see the park in the winter and get cool photos like this one during our annual event called Winter Chill Out.

Do you have great photos of the park you’d like to share? Simply tag us on Twitter or Instagram and we’ll check them out!
