That Stuff I Was Talking About

First, a little PointCast "extra."

When the monsters are getting ready, you're probably out riding. So we took the camera into Haunt Central so you could get a quick look at what happens before they come out to terrorize.

Take a look:

And now, on to closing day.

Sunday, October 27th will be a little bittersweet. You see, our current General Manager, John Hildebrandt, will be retiring after 40 years of service to Cedar Point and Cedar Fair.

Many of you already have had the chance to meet him, share your thoughts on the park with him and see how much passion and love he has for this park and this industry.

And so, Sunday, October 27th is his last operating day with the company.

Going forward, our new GM, Jason McClure, will be taking over. Jason comes to us from Dorney Park in Allentown, Pa. We'll learn more about him in the future.

But here's where you come in.

John's favorite ride at the park is Gemini. It has special significance to him for a few reasons, but we thought it would be nice and fitting that he ended his season on that ride.

And wouldn't you know, it races.

So we're also bringing Jason McClure in to ride in the opposite train.

It's going to be a race - but it's more of a partnership and passing of the baton. While John's train is pulling into the brakes, Jason's is leaving the station and climbing the lift, so to speak.

We need you to join us for this very special ride. This doesn't happen very often.

Throughout the day, our staff will be wearing laminated Golden Tickets around their necks. Find one, and it's your ticket to ride that very special journey on Gemini. You'll also keep the Golden Ticket as a very special souvenir. And of course, photos will be taken.

We'll fill two trains - one for John, one for Jason. So that means 58 seats will be available. Weather conditions are important here - if we can't operate Gemini with current weather conditions, we will substitute a different ride/coaster.

Make sure you're here on Oct. 27 - not only to close our 2013 season, but to close John Hildebrandt's chapter at Cedar Point...and open a new chapter for Jason McClure.

What a fitting tribute to a man that has brought so much enjoyment to the park! 40 years! That's wonderful! Best of luck to him, Welcome to Jason, and I hope both of them enjoy their new "careers"!

I will miss seeing John in the park walking, picking up trash and greeting the general public. He has been a great asset to the park. By the way, " Hey John" have a great retirement.

I've never met John, but I admire what he has done with the park. Thank you John and welcome Jason.
