Keyhole Exclusive« Go Back Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013
Since everyone knows that the keyhole towers are arriving tomorrow, I thought I would head out in the frigid temps with my pal Brian Short, and get some up close and personal pictures of the concrete piers before they were filled in by the actual towers. I called my secret contact… (You will meet him later in one of my blogs), and he gave me a little insider information that I can share with all you:
- The towers are so massive that they require a construction vehicle escort. They will be arriving from the fabricating company sometime tomorrow afternoon.
- When the concrete was poured for the keyholes, the internal temperature got up to 140 degrees! Right now it is probably somewhere near 100 degrees even though we are currently in a frozen tundra!
- We have gauges on the inside of the piers to let us know what the concrete temps are on the inside. With the heaters, we are able to keep the outside temp around 70 degrees so the concrete can cure properly. Who knew?
- One blanket is going to be removed tomorrow in preparation to install the first keyhole on FRIDAY, FRIDAY, GOTTA GET DOWN ON FRIDAY!!!
Make sure to check out our webcams and keep an eye on the blog cuz you never know where I might pop up to give you give guys your next look behind the scenes.
