Happy Anniversary« Go Back Monday, December 2nd, 2013
This park is a place for memories.
I know this, because even though I didn't grow up with Cedar Point in my backyard, I work with a talented group of people who have spent their lives here.
From growing up in the area to getting a job here to meeting their spouse - everyone has been touched by the park in some way or another.
And that brings me to this story.
I'd like you to meet Leah & Jeff.
Leah & Jeff are celebrating their 1st year of marriage together. On December 1, 2012, they tied the knot with a little bit of coaster fun tied in. More on that later.
They met in late summer 2005, but had their first date at Cedar Point during HalloWeekends that same year. After a few magical rides together in the park, it was time to leave.
Leah writes, "We stayed until the park closed, and as we were walking towards the front gate to leave, Jeff asked me to be his girlfriend - I said yes! We looked at the clock - it was 12:14am on Sunday September 25, 2005. We were near the entrance of Fear Faire at the time, near the then-Centennial theatre (now Jack Aldrich). Then he bought me a sparkly light-up-flashing star wand on the way out as a gift, and we have it displayed in our curio cabinet to this day, along with all of our other Cedar Point memorabilia."
Over the next few years, they spent lots of time together at the park. Then, on September 24, 2011, they were back at the park just as they were on their first date.
Then this happened.
"At exactly 12:14am, on Sunday September 25, 2011, we hugged and kissed as we usually do, but this time, he got on one knee and asked me to be his wife, holding a beautiful ring! At that moment, I felt as if we were the only ones in the entire park, and I was completely surrounded by love and Cedar Point! I happily said yes, and we walked, hand-in-hand, out of the park, just as we did exactly 6 years before."
And on December 1, 2012, they had a winter wedding, complete with CP tie-ins. Their wedding program was printed with their engagement photos on it:
They wrote their wedding vows around their visits. Their wedding march was the PEANUTS classic song, "Linus and Lucy." Republica's "Ready to Go" played during the reception.
And you can't have a coaster wedding without a coaster cake:
Cedar Point is built for memories. And although we here on staff don't get to see or hear about every one, it's an honor that we've touched lives in one way or another.
So Leah & Jeff, "Ride On" together - here's to a happy, healthy and thrill-induced future for the two of you!
