And We're Off!« Go Back Sunday, May 11th, 2014
First, let me start by saying Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. When you think about it, it's really the toughest job out there. Although my mom's watching down from above, I still have much appreciation and love for everything she's given me and my siblings.
So if you're lucky enough to have mom around today, give her a hug and thank her.
Second, what an awesome Opening Day yesterday. Great weather and everyone here at the park had a great time. It's SO good to see the park alive again after a very long and brutal winter (many of you experienced the same misery we did with that bitter cold).
Speaking of moms, will you take yours on SlingShot when it opens later in June? I hope so. The look on her face could be priceless!
Lots of activity is happening near Gemini, and if you visit in the coming weeks, you'll see a temporary wall up around the massive base that will eventually become two massive towers taller than Magnum XL-200!
So, here's a peek behind the wall:
These shots were taken a few days before we opened. The pieces were assembled out in the parking lot, lowered into place and the cement foundation was poured around the towers.
Each tower will be about 236 feet tall! The base is blue and as you go higher, you'll see a yellow section, finished off with green. And the lighting package is said to be amazing.
Rebar for the loading area:
When completed, SlingShot will hurl you 360 feet into the air - for reference, that's the second-highest point on the Cedar Point Peninsula. You'll touch the sky at a height between Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster!
Yikes!! Jury is still out on whether or not I'll ride. Will you?
