Trip Tips

AAA

Many AAA offices sell discounted Cedar Point admission tickets to their members. If you are a AAA member, check with your local office for availability. Tickets must be purchased at a AAA office. These tickets are not available at any of Cedar Point's admission gates.

Accommodations

More than one day is recommended to completely experience Cedar Point, Soak City and Challenge Park. The most convenient accommodations are the waterfront Cedar Point Resorts: Hotel Breakers, Sandcastle Suites, Camper Village, and Lighthouse Point. We also offer off point accommodations, Breakers Express and Castaway Bay. Packages with tickets and accommodations are available. Early reservations are advised because packages are in demand. For more detailed information on our resorts, please visit our website. If you would like to make reservations, you may contact the Reservations Office at 419.627.2106.

Admission Values

If you're spending more than one day at Cedar Point, your best value is a two-day Ride & Slide ticket good at both Cedar Point and Soak City. If you'll visit Cedar Point three days or more, you'll save money with a Season Pass. A Season Pass is valid for unlimited use of Cedar Point only. A Platinum Pass is valid for unlimited use of all Cedar Fair Entertainment Company amusement parks and outdoor waterparks and includes free parking!

Rides will close due to weather conditions, particularly rain, high winds and/or lightning. A specific answer as to which rides close or remain open is not possible because varying degrees of inclement weather cause different effects on different rides. Those rides affected the most are the roller coasters and the high rides. Cedar Point makes every effort to reopen the rides as quickly and safely as possible after the adverse weather conditions cease.   Sorry, no rainchecks or refunds.

Generally, the following weather conditions will affect the listed rides and attractions:

  • HIGH WINDS - These rides MAY close depending on wind speed and direction:   Demon Drop, Gemini, Giant Wheel, Magnum XL-200, Mantis, maXair, Mean Streak, Millennium Force, Power Tower, Raptor, RipCord, Sky Ride, Skyhawk,  Skyscraper, Snoopy Bounce, Space Spiral, Top Thrill Dragster and Zoom Flume.
  • ANY PRECIPITATION - These rides WILL CLOSE:  4 x 4's, Challenge Raceway, Demon Drop, Giant Wheel, Raptor, Top Thrill Dragster, Wildcat and Woodstock Express.
  • STEADY RAIN - All rides listed under ANY PRECIPITATION and the rides listed below will close:  Calypso, Corkscrew, Disaster Transport, Gemini, Iron Dragon, Magnum XL-200, Mantis, Matterhorn, Maverick, Mean Streak, Millennium Force, Skyscraper and Snoopy Bounce.
  • HEAVY RAIN - All rides listed under ANY PRECIPITATION or STEADY RAIN and the rides listed below will close:  Blue Streak, Junior Gemini, maXair, Mine Ride, Monster, Ocean Motion, Power Tower, Sky Ride, Skyhawk, Snake River Falls and Wicked Twister.
  • LIGHTNING and SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS
All rides will be closed during the severity of the storm and will start to reopen as soon as the storm or lightening passes.

Please remember, it is not possible to specifically state which rides will be closed at a specific time because the varying degrees of inclement weather cause different effects on different rides.

Alcoholic Beverage Policy

You must be 21 years of age to purchase, possess or consume alcoholic beverages at Cedar Point. A valid* I.D. is required. (*AS REQUIRED BY THE STATE OF OHIO, there are only two valid forms of identification acceptable for the purchase of alcohol - a state driver's license with photo or a state I.D. with photo.) The Ohio Revised Code prohibits bringing beer, wine or intoxicating liquor on Cedar Point property or leaving the park with alcohol purchased here. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in ride lines.

Attendance/Best Days to Visit

Cedar Point does not release attendance figures until the completion of its operating season.  At that time, combined attendance for Cedar Fair Entertaiment Company's parks will be released.  More than 3 million guests visit Cedar Point during the park's approximate 140-day operating season, making it one of the best attended seasonal amusement parks in the country.

Cedar Point recommends visiting on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, when attendance is lower. Contrary to popular belief, holidays such as Memorial Day and Labor Day do not result in unusually large crowds. The months with the lowest attendance are May, June and September.

For the safety of your child, a standard play shoe which does not contribute excessively to the child's height will be permitted. Platform shoes, for example, are not permitted to be worn to help a child meet a height requirement. For an updated weather forecast, call (419) 627-2350.

Three First Aid stations are located at Cedar Point: Main First Aid, located at the rear of Snoopy Boutique on the main midway, is open from 8AM until one hour after park closing; Frontiertown First Aid, located near the end of the bridge going into Frontiertown from the Frontier Trail, is open from park opening to park closing; and Soak City First Aid, located under Magnum XL-200, is open from 10AM until Soak City closes. The First Aid Stations offer the convenience of warming bottles and providing privacy for nursing. Medications that need refrigeration can also be stored there.

Fishing

Lake Erie’s western basin is well-known as a fisherman’s paradise. Fishing licenses are required and can be purchased from most bait shops and from the Ohio Division of Wildlife at 305 E. Shoreline Dr., Sandusky. Annual licenses are renewable by March 1 of each year. One- and three-day fishing licenses are also available. For a recorded fishing report from the Ohio Division of Wildlife, call toll-free 1-888-HOOK-FISH. If calling from the local Sandusky area, call 419/625-3187 or visit the ODNR online. Fishing from the Cedar Point Marina and docks is prohibited.

Guests of Exceptional Size

All passenger restraint systems, including lap bars, shoulder harnesses and seatbelts, must be positioned, fastened and tightened to allow guests to ride.

Due to rider restraint system requirements, guests of exceptional size may not be accommodated on some of our rides. This may apply, but not be limited to, males who exceed 6'2", and those who exceed 225 pounds, have a 40" waistline or 52" chest or females who exceed 200 pounds or wear size 18 or larger. Each person has different body proportions, so it is impossible to determine exact size and weight.

Our larger guests may experience difficulty on Blue Streak, Chaos, Corkscrew, Disaster Transport, Mantis, Maverick, maXair, Mean Streak, Millennium Force, Mine Ride, Power Tower, Raptor, Skyhawk, Wave Swinger, Wicked Twister and Top Thrill Dragster.

Maximum recommended weight limits are posted on Camp Snoopy rides, Chaos, Monster, Planet Snoopy rides, Scrambler,  Skyscraper, Super Himalaya, Troika, Wave Swinger, RipCord and most Soak City attractions.

You may enter the ride via the exit to ensure the restraints function properly prior to waiting in line. We have test seats at Maverick, maXair, Millennium Force, Raptor, Skyhawk, Top Thrill Dragster and Wicked Twister.

Kids' Meals

Children's meals are available in Kiddy Kingdom, Camp Snoopy, along the main midway and in Frontiertown. Meals range from peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to a quarter-chicken. The park's full service restaurants also offer children's menus. Natural fruit juices and milk also are available throughout the park.

KidTrack

Cedar Point has implemented a new guest service to quickly reunite separated children and their parents with cell phones. Here's how KidTrack works:

  1. KidTrack wristbands are available at Guest Services at the Main Gate, the ticket booths at all other entrance gates, both Soak City entrances, Park Operations and Town Hall.
  2. Write your 10-digit cell phone number on the wristband and fasten it around your child's right wrist. Please explain the reason for the wristband to your child, and instruct them to go to the nearest uniformed employee if they become separated from you.
  3. If you and your child become separated, the Cedar Point employee who finds your child will activate the KidTrack system. Your cell phone number will be called and you will be told where your child is being safely kept until you are reunited.
  4. Please make sure you leave your cell phone on in case you need to be located through the KidTrack system.
Laser Pointers

For safety reasons, laser pointers are not allowed at Cedar Point.

Line Jumping

Our line jumping policy states that if you cut into a line of waiting guests, no matter what the reason, you are inviting dismissal from the park without refund of admission. This rule is strictly enforced. LINE JUMPING IS: “CUTTING IN FRONT OF OTHER WAITING GUESTS. LEAVING THE LINE, THEN ATTEMPTING TO REENTER. THIS INCLUDES USING THE REST ROOM FACILITIES OR TO PURCHASE FOOD OR DRINKS.” Once you leave your place in line, you have forfeited it, no matter what the reason. Saving a place in line is simply not permitted.

Lockers and Bins

Lockers are located just inside the main gate (right side). The all-day rental fee for these lockers is $5 (small locker) and $8 (large locker). An additional $10 refundable deposit is required and will be returned when the key is returned1. Lockers are also located near Top Thrill Dragster2, Millennium Force2, Wicked Twister, Magnum exit, Snake River Falls and Thunder Canyon. The single-use rental fee for these lockers is $1 (small) and $2 (large) and is paid each time the locker is opened. Change machines are located near the lockers. All-day locker rental is available at Soak City ($5 rental fee and $10 deposit). Cedar Point assumes no liability for items in the lockers.

1The $10 deposit will be kept if the locker key must be replaced.

2Top Thrill Dragster and Millennium Force riders are required to store their belongings (purses, prizes, video cameras, etc.) in the secure lockers at the ride’s entrance as they are not permitted on the rides.

Locker dimensions/locations:

  • 12”H x 12”W x 18”D (Throughout the park and at Soak City)
  • 24”H x 12”W x 18”D (Near the Main Gate)
  • 28”H x 12”W x 18”D (at Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster)

Bins are available for rent at the Rental Center near the Main Gate for $3. Bins are for larger items or if the lockers are full. The following items cannot be placed in the bins: Food items, coolers, luggage or valuables (cameras, purses, etc.) Bins are rented on a one-time in, one-time out basis. Partial contents cannot be removed from the bins or additions made to the bin during the day. The entire contents would need to be removed and then another bin rented if available (for $3). Rental Center opens by 9 a.m.

Loose Articles

When planning your day at Cedar Point, we suggest that you travel light. Bring only items that can be safely secured in cargo pockets or a waist pack. A cargo pocket must fasten with a velcro or button flap or a zipper. A waist pack is designed to fasten around the waist with a zipper closure. For additional information, read our  Loose Article Policy.

Lost & Found

All items found at Cedar Point are turned in to our Lost & Found Department at our main security station (located in the Main Midway Arcade Building on the Snoopy Boutique side). If you lose an item on a ride, we will search for the article as soon as possible. In order to keep the ride in operation, an immediate search may not be possible. Please visit Lost & Found to complete paperwork to ensure your item is returned to you if it is found. Season Pass IDs turned in to Lost & Found are taken to the Park Admissions Office located at the main admission gate.

Military Discount

Cedar Point offers a military discount rate of $32.00. Valid ID required. Discount applies to active or retired military personnel and immediate family members (spouse, children, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, etc.)  If the military person is currently deployed overseas, the family members are eligible for the military discount as long as they show a current military family ID when purchasing tickets.

Paging/Pagers

Cedar Point does not have a public address system, so make sure all members of your group know where and when to meet. Should you become separated, Lost Persons/Message Centers are located in Kiddy Kingdom and the Town Hall Museum in Frontiertown. Cedar Point does not rent pagers.

Parent Swap

If you have small children and want to ride some of the height-restricted rides but have no provisions for child care while you do, we have an arrangement which may help. One responsible person may wait with the child on the midway near the exit while the rest of the party enters the line. When the party in line has ridden and exited, the person who waited with the child may enter the ride through the exit and ride. A guest of appropriate height in the group may ride twice (once with each person) if so desired. You must obtain a Boarding Pass at Guest Services (at the main gate), Park Operations, Town Hall (in Frontiertown) or the Resort Gate (near Magnum XL-200) to take advantage of this offer.

Pets

Pet Chek lodges animals when the park is open. However, overnight pet accommodations are not available. For more information, click here

Public picnic pavilions are located outside the park near the main entrance to Cedar Point.  A limited number of electrical outlets and public grills are available in the public picnic shelters.  Cedar Point has approximately 450 picnic tables located in the four public shelters which are for public use.  Table-top charcoal grills should NOT be placed on top of the picnic tables.  Propane grills cannot be brought in.

Guests with baskets, coolers and personal picnic items or belongings MUST leave those items in the public shelter areas located just outside the main entrance gates or in their vehicle. With the exception of special diet/need items (which may be kept in a small cooler), outside food and beverages are not allowed in the park. Individual bottles of un-opened water may be brought into the park.  Cedar Point is not responsible for items left unattended in the shelters.

Public picnic shelter areas are not reserved, but are available to anyone who chooses to use them on a first-come first-served basis.

Guests must have their hands stamped to re-enter the park before leaving to go to the picnic areas.

Coolers and picnic baskets are not permitted in Soak City.

Recommended Meal Times

Avoid eating lunch during the noon hour, or dinner at 5 p.m. Ride some of the more popular rides at this time, while many other people eat their meals.

Recreational Wheels

The use of roller skates, roller blades, scooters, bicycles, tricycles and skate boards is not permitted on Cedar Point property.

Re-entering the park

If you leave the park and plan to return that day, please get your hand stamped before you exit.

Rentals

For added convenience, Cedar Point offers a rental fleet of Strollers, Manual Wheelchairs and Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs) that may be rented on a one-day basis.  Overnight or multiple rental days are not available.  All rentals are handled at the Front Rental Center and are on a first-come, first-served basis.   If guests are in need of these convenience items, we strongly recommend that they provide their own.  There is absolutely no guarantee that vehicle choice will be available upon arrival on the day of their visit.

RENTAL FEES PER DAY*:
Stroller:  $12.00
Double Stroller:  $16.00
Non-Motorized Wheelchair:  $15.00
Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV):  $40.00

*A deposit of $10.00 is required for stroller or manual wheelchair rental.  The deposit is $25.00 for an ECV.  The deposit is returned when the guest returns the rented item to the rental location.  Driver’s license cannot be left in lieu of deposit.  Credit cards are accepted for rentals and deposits.

Reservations for ECVs are available, but in limited quantity depending on fleet availability.   Reservations must be made a minimum of 24 hours in advance by calling the Merchandise Office (419) 626-0830, ext. 2571.  Guests may confirm their ECV reservation by providing a valid credit card number.   The ECV reserved by the guest will be held until 1:00 p.m.  If the ECV is not claimed by that time, the ECV will be released and the credit card will be charged for ½ day rental ($20.00).   Once the reservation list is filled, no more reservations will be accepted.

Guests without reservations may inquire as to vehicle availability at the Front Rental Center on the day of visit.  If a vehicle is not available, guests may leave their name and cell phone number to be called for the next available vehicle.  Please note:  ECVs are very popular and may be “sold out” and no vehicles will be available.

Important information about ECVs:  Children under the age of 16 are not permitted to operate this vehicle.  Operators between the ages of 16 and 21 must have a valid driver's license and signature for parental consent.  ECVs are for single riders only with a weight limit of 325 lbs.  Additional riders of any age are not permitted.
Rider Safety Guide

Before going to rides, guests with disabilities should check at the Park Operations Office on the accessibility of specific rides. For more information, please read our 'Rider Safety Guide' available at Guest Services, the Resorts Entrance Gate, the Town Hall Museum and the Park Operations Office. For a copy before you visit, please download a copy from our website, call (419) 627-2350 or email us.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome at Cedar Point. All service animals must remain physically controlled on a leash or harness at all times. Service animals are limited to one animal per guest.

Due to the aggressive nature of most rides, service animals must remain with a non-riding member of the guest’s party. Guests should use the same attraction entrance procedures as described for “Special Access”, and may take advantage of our “Parent Swap” process to care for the animal. Cedar Point hosts and hostesses are not permitted to take control of service animals.

Service animals may ride on: Carousels, CP & LE Railroad, Antique Cars, Cadillac Cars, Giant Wheel, Space Spiral and Paddlewheel Excursions.

Guests whose service animal demonstrates aggressive actions toward our guests or employees may be directed to remove the animal from the park.

Sun Protection

Pack sunscreen. Even on a cloudy day, the sun's rays can pierce the clouds and reflect off the midways. If it's a hot day, remember to drink extra fluids and take cover periodically in the shade.

Tent Camping

Campers can take advantage of Cedar Point's Camper Village RV campground nestled between Lake Erie and the park. Tent camping, either alone or in conjunction with an RV, is prohibited at Cedar Point.
