For safety reasons, all of Cedar Point’s rides have been evaluated for needed requirements according to guest height. Cedar Point has clearly posted the height requirement at the entrance of each ride. Ride height requirement information is available at the Park Operations Office (near Kiddy Kingdom), Guest Services (far right-hand side of Main Entrance turnstiles), Town Hall in Frontier Town and Resort Entrance Gate. (Children may be “Officially” measured and receive a wristband if they meet height requirements at the Park Operations Office or Town Hall. For the safety of your child, a standard play shoe which does not contribute excessively to the child’s height will be permitted. Platform shoes that increase the child’s height are not permitted. Cedar Point reserves the right to ask that shoes be removed to ensure that a child’s height is not being artificially enhanced or manipulated.)

RESPONSIBLE PERSON

Some rides require a “responsible person” to accommodate a rider1. A responsible person is someone who meets all the requirements to ride the ride themselves, is 16 years of age or older and demonstrates appropriate observed behavior*.

*Explanation: Appropriate observed behavior may include but not be limited to maintaining proper riding position, attention and compliance to safety instructions, proper use of all ride or safety equipment and a willingness to participate.

1Limit one child per responsible person on Calypso, Dodgem, Lolli Swing, Matterhorn, Monster, Peanuts 500, Troika, Turnpike Cars and Woodstock Express.

Many rides at Cedar Point are dynamic and thrilling. There are inherent risks in riding any amusement ride. For your protection, each ride is rated for its special features, such as high speed, steep drops, sharp turns or other dynamic forces. If you choose to ride, you accept all of these risks. Restrictions for guests of extreme size (height or weight) are posted at certain rides. Guests with disabilities should refer to our Ride Admission Policy available at the Park Operations Office or Town Hall. Participate responsibly. You should be in good health to ride safely. You know your physical conditions and limitations, Cedar Point does not. If you suspect your health could be at risk for any reason, or you could aggravate a pre-existing condition of any kind, DO NOT RIDE!

Guests with a history of recent surgery, heart trouble/high blood pressure, neck trouble, back trouble, or any other condition that may be aggravated by riding, or who are pregnant, should carefully heed all warning signs at a ride entrance. If you are in doubt about your ability to safely experience a ride or would like more rider information, please request our Rider Safety Guide at Park Operations or Town Hall Museum. We’ll be happy to brief you on our Ride Admission Policy and explain how it applies to your specific situation. We hope we can help you enjoy your day more fully.

Our Ride Admission Policy was developed in consultation with a biodynamics engineer and a rehabilitation specialist, based on recommendations of the manufacturer, our past experience, and our evaluation of each ride in both normal and emergency operating conditions. Our prime consideration is the ability of a person to endure the dynamics of the ride without risk of injury to himself, other guests or park personnel.

Cedar Point reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone we feel cannot safely ride a particular ride. Park Operations Management will review all exceptional cases and make decisions based on the knowledge of the ride and abilities demonstrated by the guest.

Section 1711.551 of the Revised Code requires that riders must obey all warnings and directions regarding rides and behave in a manner that will not cause or contribute to injury to themselves or others. Failure to comply is a misdemeanor.

RESTRAINT SYSTEMS

Safety is number one at Cedar Point. All passenger restraint systems, including lap bars, shoulder harnesses and seatbelts, must be positioned, fastened and tightened to allow guests to ride. We are required by the State of Ohio to enforce all manufacturer requirements.

Due to rider restraint system requirements, guests of exceptional size may not be accommodated on some of our rides. This may apply, but not be limited to, men who exceed 6’2”, or those who exceed 225 pounds, have a 40” waistline or 52” chest or females who exceed 200 pounds or wear size 18 or larger. Each person has different body proportions so it is not possible to list exact size and weight.

Our larger guests may experience difficulty on Blue Streak, Chaos, Corkscrew, Disaster Transport, Mantis, Maverick, maXair, Mean Streak, Millennium Force, Mine Ride, Power Tower, Raptor, Skyhawk, Top Thrill Dragster, Wave Swinger, Wicked Twister.

Maximum recommended weight limits are posted on many rides including Camp Snoopy rides, Chaos, Monster, Planet  Snoopy rides,  Scrambler, Skyscraper,  Super Himalaya, Troika, Wave Swinger, RipCord and most Soak City attractions.

You may enter the ride via the exit to ensure the restraints function properly prior to waiting in line. We have test seats at Maverick, maXair, Millennium Force, Raptor, Skyhawk, Top Thrill Dragster and Wicked Twister.

RIDE SAFETY

Many amusement park rides have safety systems designed by the manufacturer to accommodate people of average physical stature and body proportion. These safety systems may place restrictions on the ability of an individual to safely experience the ride. Extremely large or small individuals, pregnant women, people with casts, braces, restrictive devices or disabilities may not be safely accommodated by these systems. For example, height requirements are based on the size needed for safety restraints to function properly and the level of maturity usually associated with a certain height. This policy was developed in consultation with a biodynamics engineer and a rehabilitation specialist, based on the recommendations of the manufacturer, our past experience, and our evaluation of each ride in both normal and emergency operating conditions. Our prime consideration is the ability of a person to endure the dynamics of the ride without risk of injury to himself, other guests, or park personnel.

HAND-HELD INFANTS

Hand-held infants are restricted from most rides. They may be taken on Antique Cars, Cadillac Cars, C.P. & L. E. Railroad, Giant Wheel, Kiddy Kingdom Carrousel, Midway Carrousel, Paddlewheel Excursions, Sky Ride, Snoopy’s  Express Railroad and Space Spiral.

PREGNANT WOMEN

Pregnant women may ride: C.P. & L.E. Railroad, Giant Wheel, Kiddy Kingdom Carrousel, Midway Carrousel, Paddlewheel Excursions, Sky Ride and Space Spiral.

LOOSE ARTICLE POLICY

When planning your day at Cedar Point, we suggest that you travel light. Bring only items that can be safely secured in cargo pockets or a waist pack. A cargo pocket must fasten with a velcro or button flap or a zipper. A waist pack is designed to fasten around the waist with a zipper closure.

Cedar Point rides cannot accommodate loose articles including cell phones, pagers, hats, cameras, stuffed animals, purses, backpacks, umbrellas, beverage containers, personal entertainment devices, etc. Items MUST BE SAFELY SECURED in cargo pockets or a waist pack, left in a locker, in a bin on the platform, in your vehicle or with a non-rider.  These items may be left on the platform, however, Cedar Point is not responsible for items lost or stolen.  Glasses must be secured. For safety reasons, taking pictures, videotaping and filming on rides are prohibited.

Glasses must be secured with an athletic strap on Maverick, maXair, Power Tower, Skyhawk, Top Thrill Dragster, and Wicked Twister.

All-day locker rental is available near the main gate (right side) and at Soak City. The rental fee for these lockers is $5.00 for a small locker and $8.00 for a large locker. A $10.00 deposit is required and will be refunded when the locker key is returned.

Other lockers are also located near Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, Magnum exit, Snake River Falls and Thunder Canyon. The Rental fee for these lockers is $1.00 for small and $2.00 for large and is paid each time the locker is opened. (Dollar coins must be used. Change machines are located near the lockers.)

If the lockers are all taken or you need more storage space, bins are available for rent at the Stroller Rental near the Main Gate for $5.00. Bins are rented on a one-time in, one-time out basis. Partial contents cannot be removed from the bins or additions made to the bin during the day. The entire contents would need to be removed and then another bin rented if available (for $5.00). The following items cannot be placed in the bins: Food items, coolers, luggage or valuables (cameras, purses, etc.)

Cedar Point assumes no liability for items left in lockers or bins.

REMOVE HEADPHONES

To ensure guests can hear safety instructions, headphones must be removed before boarding. Personal Entertainment Devices must be secured in a waist pack or cargo shorts.

WATER DAMAGE

Due to the potential for water damage, Thunder Canyon and Snake River Falls riders should leave their cameras and other valuable items with a non-rider or in a locker.

LINE JUMPING

Our line jumping policy states that if you cut into a line of waiting guests, no matter what the reason, you are inviting dismissal from the park without refund of admission. This rule is strictly enforced. LINE JUMPING IS: “CUTTING IN FRONT OF OTHER WAITING GUESTS. LEAVING THE LINE, THEN ATTEMPTING TO REENTER. THIS INCLUDES USING THE REST ROOM FACILITIES OR TO PURCHASE FOOD OR DRINKS. Once you leave your place in line, you have forfeited it, no matter what the reason. Saving a place in line is simply not permitted.

FRONT SEAT WAITING

Front seat waiting is available for the following roller coasters:

  • Corkscrew
  • Magnum
  • Mantis
  • Maverick
  • Mean Streak
  • Millennium Force
  • Mine Ride
  • Raptor
  • Top Thrill Dragster
  • Wicked Twister

Guests should go through the regular queue line and get into the Front Seat queue on the loading platform. Once the queue is full, guests must choose another seat.

WEATHER CONDITIONS THAT AFFECT RIDES

Rides will close due to weather conditions, particularly rain, high winds, and/or lightening. Which rides close depends on the weather conditions. Those rides affected the most are the roller coasters and the high rides. Cedar Point will make every effort to reopen the rides as quickly as possible after the rain stops. Some rides, primarily the coasters, Demon Drop and the Giant Wheel, must close under certain rain conditions. This is because the manufacturer did not design the ride to function under such conditions. Power Tower, Sky Ride, Skyhawk, Skyscraper,  Raptor and Top Thrill Dragster will be closed during high wind situations. A specific answer as to which rides close or remain open is not possible because varying degrees of inclement weather cause different effects on different rides.

MISCELLANEOUS

Footwear and shirts must be worn in the ride area. The only exception to this is for hand-held infants who cannot walk and are not required to wear shoes. On Thunder Canyon and Snake River Falls only, guests may wear swimwear and are not required to wear shoes. Lockers are located nearby. Slip-on shoes should be removed on the Wave Swinger, Raptor, Power Tower, maXair, Skyhawk and Wicked Twister.

No smoking in the ride area (for fire prevention purposes); no smoking in the ride queues (lines) for the courtesy and comfort of other guests. SMOKING IS CAUSE FOR REMOVAL FROM THE LINE. No food or drinks can be taken on to the ride platform (to help maintain our standards of cleanliness).

Most rides seat guests in groups of 2 or 4.
