Raptor
Raptor rules the sky at Cedar Point! Built in 1994 by the world-renowned team of Bolliger and Mabillard (B & M), Monthey, Switzerland, the Raptor roller coaster was voted No. 11 in the "Best Steel Roller Coaster in the World" category in a survey conducted by Amusement Today in 2005.
Guests ride in cars that are suspended from the track above. Specially designed seats allow passengers' legs to dangle, providing the sensation of flight. Aiding that is the fact that riders go upside down six amazing times! The highlight is a first-of-its-kind ?cobra-roll,? a thrilling element that flips riders over, spirals them upside down into a 180-degree roll and repeats the twisting motion in reverse. Looming 137 feet above the Main Midway and reaching a top speed of 57 mph, Raptor is one of the tallest and fastest inverted roller coasters in the world.
Nearly 27 million guests have been picked up by the claws of this steel giant since 1994. In 2006, 1,645,189 riders "kicked the sky" on Raptor. Guests must be at least 54 inches tall to ride.
May not accommodate Guests of Exceptional Size.
Loose articles are not permitted on this ride.
Rider Safety Guide
- This exciting inverted roller caoster turns riders upside down a total of six times, includes a 100-foot-tall vertical loop, two inverted corkscrews, a zero-gravity roll and a cobra, which flips riders twice. The Raptor uses chair lift-like vehicles suspended below an inverted track that sends passengers looping upside down on the outside of the structure. The shoulder harness and seatbelt must be fastened and tightened securely at all times. May not acccommodate guests of exceptional size. Please try out the test seat at the entrance to ensure that all restraints fasten before waiting in line. Maximum chest size of 54 inches. Guests with any type of prosthesis should not ride unless they can ensure the device is properly secured and will remain in place during the ride. If there is any concern that the prosthesis may become dislodged during the ride, guests should contact the Park Operations Office for assistance. Special access is via exit stairs. Guests using wheelchairs, please follow the sign around back of the ride to the base of the elevator. Use phone to alert hosts for assistance. Warning: This ride contains strobe lighting.
