Maverick
Get ready to experience the best: Maverick, Cedar Point's 17th amazing roller coaster. Introduced in 2007, Maverick has been voted the Best New Ride of 2007 by Amusement Today's panel of experts in the newspaper?s annual Golden Ticket Awards.
Located in Frontiertown, the $21 million Maverick is a coaster unlike any other. Guests begin their adventurous journey on Maverick by boarding steam-era-styled coaster trains with an ultra-sleek profile that carry them along the 4,450-foot-long course. Linear synchronous motors propel the train to the top of a 105-foot-tall first hill. From there, it's not straight down -- it's more than straight down: Maverick takes its passengers down to Earth at an astonishing 95-degree angle at speeds of up to 57 mph to within five feet above the ground.
From there, the train hugs the terrain as it twists and banks around hairpin turns with quick but smooth changes in direction. Throughout the 2-minute, 30-second ride, passengers also experience eight "airtime-filled hills," two inversions and a second launch through a dark tunnel that leaves them in awe as they reach speeds of 70 mph.

- The Maverick is a launched full circuit roller coaster. Guests must be in good health to ride this ride. Guests with disabilities are mainstreamed through the queues and will take an elevator to the second floor platform.Warning: This ride contains strobe lighting. Shoulder harnesses and seatbelts must be fastened and tightened securely at all times. The horizontal part of the lap bar/shoulder harness should be in firm contact against the pelvis and muscular parts of thighs. May not accommodate guests of exceptional size. Please try test seat at the ride entrance and ensure that seatbelt fastens and tightens at least one half inch before entering line. Guests must be free from any unsecured assistive devices, which might become loose during the operation of the ride. Glasses must be secured with an athletic strap.Guests using special access may return to the ride entrance once their boarding time arrives, go through the wheelchair lane and take the elevator to the second floor boarding platform.
