CEDAR POINT 2010
Located on a Lake Erie peninsula in Sandusky, Ohio, Cedar Point amusement park/resort is one of the most popular amusement park and vacation destinations in the country. With 75 rides, including 17 roller coasters, Cedar Point has more rides and more roller coasters than any park in the world and provides a full day of fun for guests of all ages.
Complementing the park’s vast collection of thrilling coasters and family favorites are an assortment of award-winning live shows, themed children’s areas, special attractions, eateries serving sumptuous meals and treats and gift shops offering a wide array of souvenirs and memorabilia.
For the 12th consecutive year, Cedar Point was named the “Best Amusement Park in the World” in the annual poll conducted by Amusement Today, an international amusement industry publication. Cedar Point is the only park to be the recipient of this highly-coveted award.
Adjacent to the amusement park are the 18-acre Soak City waterpark and the Challenge Park activity complex that features miniature golf, go-kart tracks and the thrilling Ripcord skycoaster.
Cedar Point also has a variety of guest accommodations that make the resort the perfect destination for a family vacation or getaway weekend. Overnight guests can choose between beautiful beachfront properties overlooking Lake Erie and cottages, cabins and luxury RV campsites just a stroll away from the park. There’s also two marinas, RV campground and a year-round indoor waterpark resort.
New this summer at Cedar Point will be Shoot the Rapids, a wild river ride adventure that will cost more than $10.5 million to build. A major addition to the themed Frontier Trail, Shoot the Rapids will have two hills, canyon walls with spraying water and a splashy grand finale! With an 85-foot-tall first hill, it will be one of the tallest water rides in the world!
Other features on the 2,100-foot-long flume ride include surprise water elements, rustic setting and a long, dark tunnel. There’s even a dry area for spectators to watch all the fun!
Millennium Force, the world’s first 300-foot-tall roller coaster, will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2010. When it opened in 2000, Millennium Force was the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world! This summer, Cedar Point will also commemorate the 60th anniversary of the PEANUTS comic strip that first appeared in 1950.
In September, the park will hold HalloWeekends XIV, its annual fall festival of fun and frights, and the inaugural Revolution3 Triathlon featuring full- and half-Iron-distance races.
First opened in 1870, Cedar Point will celebrate its 140th anniversary in 2010. It is the second oldest amusement park in North America.
Roller Coasters
With 17 coasters, Cedar Point is known around the world for its unmatched collection of roller coasters featuring Top Thrill Dragster, a 420-foot-tall steel giant, and the ground-hugging Maverick. Although it has introduced four coasters since 1978 that were the tallest and fastest in the world, Cedar Point also provides a full day of excitement for coaster-riders of all types. Everyone enjoys a ride on the Iron Dragon suspended coaster and the Cedar Creek Mine Ride, while young guests are able to challenge Woodstock Express and Jr. Gemini.
Besides Millennium Force, two other coasters are also having noteworthy anniversaries: Disaster Transport, an indoor coaster, will celebrate its 20th anniversary (1990), while a WildCat has been at Cedar Point since 1970 (40th anniversary). Disaster Transport originally opened in 1985 as Avalanche Run, a bobsled ride. It was enclosed and rethemed five years later.
Rides
Cedar Point’s unmatched collection of rides provides non-stop entertainment for guests of all ages. From a trip through Frontiertown on an authentic coal-burning stream engine to plunging over an 82-foot-tall water fall, guests can spin, twist, swing and loop all day long at the largest ride park in the world!
The swinging maXair will celebrate its fifth anniversary this summer, while the Space Spiral, a Cedar Point landmark since 1965, will mark its 45th anniversary in 2010.

Home to the Woodstock Express roller coaster, Camp Snoopy has seven rides and the Camp Snoopy Theatre where children can sing and dance with Snoopy!
Along the main midway, Kiddy Kingdom has more than a dozen rides including an antique carrousel and a curving water ride. For more riding adventures, the Gemini Children’s Area offers miniature versions of some of the park’s most popular adult rides.
Showtime
Every day, Cedar Point presents an array of award-winning live shows that will entertain everyone in the family. New this summer will be Everyone Loves Snoopy, a high-energy professional ice-skating show featuring Snoopy and the Gang. It is not to be missed!
