Stitchers and Dressers
Cedar Point is looking for stitchers and dresssers. Interviews will be held during the regular audition tour. Please check for times and locations. If you cannot come to one of our audition sites, please send a cover letter and resume to Cedar Point Live Entertainment, Attn: Costume Shop.
Employment Dates
Some costume positions begin as early as mid-February. Employment dates for other positions coincide with the rehearsal periods of the show. Please see tentative show dates.
Responsibilities
- Constructing the costumes for our Live Shows from February until May
- Fitting and finishing costumes from the first week of May until mid-June
- Keeping costumes laundered and repaired on a regular basis
- Assisting in quick changes and/or character dressing and other assigned "backstage" duties
- Keeping all shop equipment in good working order
Positions Available
Costume Shop Supervisor
Duties include: Helps with all inventory and ordering. Keeps pattern log and shop bible updated. Schedules fittings. Works with dressers to get the show track set. Drop-off and pick-up of costumes to our laundry facilities.
Qualifications Include: Skill and speed. Knowledge of standard sewing techniques required. Knowledge of pattern drafting, cutting, draping helpful, but not required. Experience working in a theatrical costume shop is not required but is extremely helpful.
Stitchers
Duties include: Some cutting and drafting of patterns with the help of the designer. Construction of costumes. Fittings and alterations of costumes when performers arrive. Drop-off and pick-up of costumes to our laundry facilities. Repair of costumes during the regular season.
Qualifications include: Skill and speed. Knowledge of standard sewing techniques required. Experience working in a theatrical costume shop is not required but is extremely helpful.
Dressers
Duties include: Helps with fittings and alterations when performers arrive. Work to finalize show track. Maintain and repair costumes during the run of the show. Drop-off and pick-up of costumes to our laundry facilities.
Qualifications include: Experience with Musical Theatre or Ice Show extremely helpful. Any experience with quick-changes or full body costume character work helpful but not necessary. Should have basic sewing skills.
All employees must be organized, neat and cooperative with a professional outlook. The pace can get hectic and the hours long!
Pay Rate
(2008 pay rates have not been finalized)
2007 pay rates were $408.00-$423.00 per week based on a 6-day show week. A Bonus is paid upon successful completion of the employment agreement. Longer hours may be necessary during rehearsal periods.
Housing
Multiple occupancy housing is provided at Cedar Point for employees who live more than 25 miles away. 2007 housing costs ranged from $16.80 to $31.20/week per person.
