A Flume Here, A Flume There

November 9, 2009 3:50 PM

The first steel pieces have arrived for Shoot the Rapids.

We received some support pieces last week, and just got a fresh shipment of flume this morning.

These pieces appear to be the bottoms of the two drops.

If you look closely, you'll see steel "teeth" that are protruding from the actual flume. Those steel pieces will create a cascading rapids effect as the water flows down the flume.

No sign of the boats yet, but we've taken some fresh photos of the construction site and hope to have them up soon!

Are these the bottom of the first or second drop?

  • From Tony & Tyler:

We believe they are pieces for both drops.

What are the holes along the steel frame for?

  • From Tony & Tyler:

That's where the flume pieces connect to each other.

Why is the form for the pier on second incline so much different than that shown in the artists rendering

  • From Tony & Tyler:

Jon - the odd support that's being formed on the island is the support for a pedestrian bridge that is not in the artist renderings. It will be used by park staff to cross over to the island if necessary.
